Simon White joins the team

Where did you start your career?

I started my career working at local leisure centres in Horsham, Sussex until I moved to Putney and worked at the leisure centre briefly. I then started a new path and worked for DC Leisure as an IT Manger in the head office. During the fifteen years I worked with DC Leisure, who were bought out by a VC then sold again and taken over by Places for People Group, I spent my time working as Assistant Head of Technology Services and Support. Here I led several projects that changed the way the company did business, for example I introduced new technology that was necessary to move the company forward. There I delivered projects jointly led by Group and Leisure through our team.

What is your background in?

My background is in technology and the operation of leisure centres. With this skill it has easily transferred into people flow and movement which every office building, shopping mall, football stadium etc has, and I have really utilised these key skills over at Omega Security Systems where I have succeeded a role with them from February 2018. This role is very fluid and is already ever changing to what the business requires, from consulting to full project management.

How have you found working in a different sector?

One key thing I have discovered very quickly is that in a leisure centre we were trying to get people in, in a customer friendly, easy, speedy and cost-effective way. The types of customers we had were staff, casual user, cleaner, partial member, full member, visitor and parent of participant. These all exist in every business, some with different names, like member is an employee etc. With this thought process I can easily customise a people flow chart for any business.

How have you found working for Omega?

Omega Security Systems were my supplier for fifteen years and they delivered always on time and budget and I had a great working relationship with them, so it was very easy to move across to them and understand their visions. Since working with them I can see they deliver whatever is needed, which is very rewarding and productive. I very much look forward to growing and understanding Omega's business and I am excited to where we might be in one, five and ten years!
